New bike!

May 8th, 2014

Happy Mother’s Day to me! I bought myself a bicycle today. I’m so excited.

I’ve only had one new bicycle my whole life – it was a yellow banana seat bicycle called “sun country” – man I loved that thing.

It looked just like this one:

Now it’s called “vintage” … Sweet.

My new bike looks like this:

Pay no mind to my filthy car and the ugly dent someone caused in a parking lot incident…

Unfortunately, I was not able to ride it up the slight hill heading out from my house, so I definitely have some work to do.

Other wins today included not eating a second piece of ham just because it sounded good.

beat!

May 6th, 2014

Man am I beat! I don’t know why, but I have not been sleeping very well and I wake up just totally exhausted.

They say that in an effort to gain more energy, you should do the following:

1. Eat better – check
2. Get more exercise – check
3. Drink less caffeine – meh
4. Get more sleep – how?

I have greatly reduced my caffeine intake, in fact, I can’t remember the last time I had a Diet Coke (Sunday?) and I have definitely increased the amount of exercise that I am getting lately. I think I am eating better – although, the NS foods are totally processed and not so fresh. (That is the biggest downfall to this food plan….)

I’ve been reading a lot about thyroid issues, and I think it’s time to see the doctor about getting that checked. Also, I am worried about heart issues…I now have heard of two women not so much older than myself having heart issues, and this does run in my family.

I think we all could use a Spring Check Up, don’t you?

My mom watched some show (probably Oprah or similar) and is sure I have fibromyalgia. I don’t know, but thanks mom! 🙂

centergy

May 5th, 2014

I planned to get up and go to the 6 am group step class, but I couldn’t do it. Instead of skipping the gym altogether, which I am wont to do in situations like this, I decided to head out a little later and take the group centergy class. Wow what a work out! It was so hot and I am so not flexible, that I was sweating bullets.

I’m still not feeling great, but I am not going to let that bring me down!

Today has continued to be a struggle. I’ve been fighting hunger, tummy trouble and general malaise. I’ve become über obsessive with weightloss, exercise planning and smoking cessation. Anyhow, I tried several different BMI calculators and, yep, I’m overweight and bordering obese.

Here’s a nice little chart for others who may be interested in BMI charting….

Swimming

May 4th, 2014

It’s funny how when you haven’t used your gym’s pool in over 6 months, and now that you can’t swim, suddenly that’s the only thing you want to do. My new swim lap counter arrived last week and I can’t wait to use it!

Today was not so great on the plan. I indulged in a few mimosas and also took an allergy pill so I was knocked out for about 5 hours. This caused me to miss lunch and the midday shake plus I ate a couple of chucks off the honey roasted ham so I was totally off plan. Tomorrow is a new day and I will not cheat!

Exhaustion

May 3rd, 2014

I woke up today completely exhausted and it has not gotten better. Add that to the fact I’m starving and have a headache and, well, I’m miserable.

Today is day 1 of the NS Fast 5 so I’ve barely eaten anything and I’m starving. This is not going to be easy, that’s for sure.

The good news is I bought P90x off craigslist for a really good price and it arrived yesterday! I was a little nervous that I was going to be ripped off, but I wasn’t and that’s awesome. I know this sounds crazy, but I am really considering adding this to my daily workout routine. I bought the system for my husband, but it really is an awesome workout and I plan to do most of my cardio at the gym, so this would be an excellent way to get the strength training in.

If I do add in P90x, then I think my two month plan will become a three month plan and all I have to say is I better be smokin’ by the end of July.
