Martha’s Vineyard Detox Soup

November 5th, 2007

1 medium Zucchini
1/4 C chopped onions
1/4 C chopped sweet peppers
garlic, oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary to taste
enough distilled water to cover veggies

Put it all in your crock pot and cook it. Add one Roma tomato, chopped, when the other veggies are about 2 -3 minutes from being cooked.

Puree the cooked veggies with a little broth and save the rest of the broth.

(When not detoxing: serve it with some grilled chicken over angel hair pasta with some diced tomatoes and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese)

21 pounds in 21 days

November 5th, 2007

I’ve given up on NutriSystem for the time being. I still have a cupboard full of food that I do plan to eat…but I have put my auto-shipments on hold indefinitely. A good friend of mine told me I have to read You On a Diet so I went to buy it and I found this: 21 Pounds in 21 Days the Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox by Roni DeLuz, RN, ND – 229 page, Hardcover. I think I’ll give it a try.

Part of the process is setting goals and answering a few thoughtful questions. So, I am going to do that here. Since the program is pretty strict and you can’t cheat, else get sick, I will have to wait until after Thanksgiving (because I know there’s no way I can skip that meal).

The book suggests taking 2 weeks prior to get yourself ready any way, with one of the first steps of buying a juicer, so that’s what I did. Today I bought Jack LaLanne Stainless Steel Power Juicer. How cool is that? I am so excited to try it. I also bought a skin brush.

help

October 29th, 2007

I’ve been good. I go to the gym every morning, I drink my water, I watch my portions; but I still can’t lose this weight. I have literally lost the same 5 pounds since July. I know that one problem is that I am not sticking 100% to NS. I delayed shipment for 2 months, and I still have about 6 weeks on the shelf. I thought I could eat off plan if I was careful, but I guess not. I just really dislike the food.

Better luck next week, right? There are approximately 5 weeks until my birthday, and I’d really like to be under 170 by then.

back on track!

October 24th, 2007

I feel back on top of things. I was back down to 177.5 and I have made it to the gym every day this week. For some reason, I feel lighter on days I work out? Strange, I know.

I have been having nightmares about smoking (like I get caught sneaking out for a cigarette or trying to steal them from people) I have also been really really angry when my secretary “goes out for a quick smoke” every hour!!! I was hoping that after 4 months, this would not be happening anymore. I am beginning to think that I will always want to smoke…

My stats so far…

I have been quit for 4 Months, 1 Week, 3 hours and 43 seconds (129 days). I have saved $664.99 by not smoking 2,582 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Week, 1 Day, 23 hours and 10 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 6/17/2007 8:00 AM

food saver

October 21st, 2007

I got my food saver (a food vacuum packaging system) today! Yippee!! I took one of the big bags of pre-made salad and some grape tomatoes and sealed it into 8 daily servings. I think this is going to be a great way to get my salad in each day.

In other news, I am back UP to 183 lbs. I just don’t understand. I have been working out 4 to 6 days per week and I have been watching what I eat. This is so frustrating.

And, I finally opened the box of NS food from last month. I was pretty disappointed because they substituted a lot of things I don’t like. For example, I ordered three Maple Oatmeal because I didn’t care for the Apple & Cinnamon oatmeal. What do you think I got? I got three Apple & Cinnamon! Sheesh.
