I passed the test

I have been failing miserably on my diet. But I am on day 27 of not smoking! Last night I went out to the casino with some friends (who smoke) to dance. In Washington, smoking is prohibited in all public places…except casinos…so I have been okay at the bars so far. Last night though, I was a little nervous. In the old days, I would have smoked nearly a pack in the 3-4 hours I’m there. BUT I did it, I did not smoke at all! I actually wasn’t even bothered by the smokers. I didn’t even want one. I feel pretty good about that.

I have got to get into gear and stay on this diet. It’s really hard though.

Right now, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being easy and 10 being hard….staying quit is a 2 and staying diet is an 11!


ack! where does the time go?

I missed yesterday….so, I’ll post a short catch up. I joined the gym on Friday and I am proud to say I got up at 5 am and made it there for the 6 am water aerobics class! It’s Mon/Wed/Fri so I plan to do it those days. I also want to take the Kickboxing class, but it is on Monday mornings at 6 am as well. I will try it next week and if I like it enough, I’ll do that Mondays and Water on Wednesday and Friday. I haven’t figured out what fits into my Tuesday and Thursday schedule yet. On Saturday, I plan to try this class called “group groove”! It’s like a dancing workout.

I had to go get a new scale. I opted for one that also measures your body fat and water levels (*yikes*). It seems to work well because I was measured for these at the gym today and my scale says the same thing.

Well…gotta go to bed. I have been really tired lately; but, the insomnia seems to be gone so I am sleeping through the night now.


you can’t go to Qwest Field and stick to NS

So…yesterday I went to a concert at Qwest Field, which only serves hot dogs, garlic fries, oily pizza, or Ivar’s as far as I could tell. I had eaten my NS dinner for lunch and I took a NS desert and lunch item with me…but I gave in and had 3 beers and a hot dog. We did walk quite a bit getting to and from the stadium and up and down from our seats. If I am reading my calorie balance thing correctly, the walking about canceled the beers and dog so I feel a little better. 🙂

Today, I am totally wiped out. My back is killing me from the stadium seating and car rides. I am going to try and make it to the gym for a swim in a while.

I was going to weigh in on Sundays, but I think I am going to change that to Monday mornings instead. I’ll post a progress report tomorrow.


first day!

I survived the first day….but I am starving! I wasn’t totally prepared as far as groceries go and I missed a few pieces of the process. I definitely need to add a “never order that again” page or some kind of rating system because, let me tell you, the BBQ Soy chips are some of the worst things I have ever eaten.

I am falling asleep in my chair here…so I’m off for now.

The food got here today (but not until after 7 pm) and I am so excited. I took my before photo yesterday and it s even more hideous than I thought. I cannot believe it got to this point.

My kids, of course, have all commented on it. # 3 wanted to know what I was going to do if it didn’t work and # 4 thought I look just fine.

I am really exhausted and I am worried that I won’t make it through this … but I guess if I can quit smoking, I can stick to this food plan.
