goin’ away

August 17th, 2007

It’s been a pretty rotten week because I feel better, but I burn out easily. Moreover, my car broke down and that just sucks. The great news is that I made to 2 months of no smoking! I can’t believe it! Also, I got the okay from Doc to go to the lake this week, so I am off for some fun in the sun. I’m sure going to miss puppers though…. She’s going to the neighbors

Finally, it’s DH’s, Dad’s and an Aunt’s b-day today. Fun! I also finished my mediation training exercise and have been reloading my iPod. Nice, huh? I finally figured out how to put books on CD on the darn thing in a way that 1) does not reorder the chapters, and 2) does not include them in the song shuffles.

I won’t comment on the dieting….. There’s always next month, right? I did, however get to 176 this am, which means I’ve lost over 10 pounds now! Yeah!

almost 2 months….

August 15th, 2007

Today is the 1 month 4 week anniversary of my Quit. On Friday, it will be one month. I can’t believe it! I have been totally wanting to smoke and I don’t know why. I have not, of course, and I could easily….there’s still that lonely cigarette up stairs in my closet….. But, I won’t do it. Yesterday, my mom had her trach put back in….no, it isn’t because of smoking (she’s never smoked) it’s due to an illness she has called Sarcoidosis. It’s still a motivating factor though. Here’s what my stats look like today:

I have been quit for 1 Month, 4 Weeks, 2 hours, 4 minutes and 8 seconds (59 days). I have saved $304.29 by not smoking 1,181 cigarettes. I have saved 4 Days, 2 hours and 25 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 6/17/2007 8:00 AM.

The 8 am was approximate…. I had spent $ 49.99 on the hypnotherapy and $349.98 on the vitamins… so I have *almost* reaped those funds back. Then, I have to reap back the $260 on my iPod and I’ll be realizing those non-smoker’s savings…

The diet front is embarrassing….I have cheated – yet – today, but it’s my secretary’s last day, so we’re taking her to lunch. This will be the first time I have driven, or really even left my house, since my rib removal….. Wish me luck.

starting fresh

August 13th, 2007

My second month’s food should arrive today. This morning, I weighed in under 180 at 179! This is amazing to me given the fact I ate nearly 1/2 package of cookies yesterday plus a bunch of other stuff I really shouldn’t have eaten. The last few days the meals I have eaten were pretty gross. I don’t know if it’s because I am still not feeling too well, or what, but I do not think I can go on if this is it for taste. I am also still having a lot of trouble with the salad. It gets brown so fast and I just can’t eat it. This week, I am going to try to buy the sing;e serving salad bags and see how that goes. I am also thinking of trying the new V-8 juice.

My mini goal is to get under 160 by September 1st. That would be awesome! I had wanted to reach 140 by the new year, but I am not sure that’s possible now??? I understand typical weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week, then I would have *just* enough time….

On a final note … today is International Left-Handers Day, so please remember your favorite lefty! Till next time.

surgery sucks

August 10th, 2007

Wow! It’s been longer than I thought since I posted! I lived through surgery on the 1st, but I am not happy. Having a rib removed is not quite as bad as I imagined, but it is not by any stretch, good. My shoulder and left half of my chest is killing me. The surgical site is starting to itch like you wouldn’t believe, and the pain meds make me sleepy and don’t seem to work all that well.

I was really depressed when I got home, because, according to the scale I gained 10 pounds in the 3 days I was at the hospital, but luckily, I lost all that + 3 more in the week since I’ve been home.

The up-side to all of this is that it has been nice having a little time off even if I feel like crap. I have read a ton of books in the last week. I had started re-reading all the Harry Potter books and finished the last one a couple of days ago. Yesterday, I read a book called Eclipse (Twilight, Book 3). Now I am reading the some of the books on my daughter’s honors English class booklist, including The Book Thief (Book Sense Book of the Year Children’s Literature (Awards)) and His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass).

My second order of NS should be here any day now. There was a mix-up and it it didn’t ship until yesterday, so I am pretty much out of breakfasts and lunches. I had a ton of dinners left, which means I cheated even more than I thought *ugh*. I am going to have to commit to 100% NS in the next two months or I might as well quit it. I am also going to keep better track of what’s good and what’s bad. I sent a bunch of things back, but I am not sure what the status of those items are as far as making it back to me.

Finally, one the smoking front, I am proud to say it has been 53 days and I have almost saved as much money as it cost me to take the hypnosis class and purchase all those vitamins.

a little behind

July 29th, 2007

It’s been a while since I posted because I have been too darn busy! Going to Tacoma for a week was tough on my schedule and I am really behind at home and work. I was able to be 100% NS Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday was bad for me. I had a vege Japanese plate for lunch and we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner (!!). I was pretty bad on Friday too. Last week I was so-so…but I wanted a hamburger really bad and had a mushroom swiss burger with fries. Yum.
