Can it get any worse….?

September 24th, 2013

Shouldn’t say that, because obviously it can, but I feel sabotage coming on.

First, the good news. Despite some bad choices, total loss from week one of South Beach was 2 pounds.

Now, the bad news. Well, it’s not really news more so than a vent. Friday, I donated blood. I like to do this as I know it’s helpful and it doesn’t bother me too much; however, for some reason I had a really bad reaction and felt awful all night and through the day Saturday. Saturday night, I got really sick and while I was outside, I felt a bit faint and actually fainted. I came too and found myself laying on the sidewalk! Couldn’t believe it. I think I have given myself a concussion.

Fast forward to today. Got to work like normal. Got a text around the time my secretary should have been showing up for work. Not a good sign. Yep, calling in sick. Not like we don’t have a bazillion things to do. Went outside to smoke and realized I locked myself out! Sucks. Got back in and had a crappy-per-course Monday.

Got home and saw that my Garcinia Cambogia was delivered today (!). But, where is it? Not here…..

Like I said, what else can go wrong?

Garcinia Cambogia and other diet news

September 14th, 2013

Well, I got suckered… I clicked a Dr. Oz news story on yahoo and watched the segment on Garcinia Cambogia. I read the Women’s Health editorial staff’s “guinea pig blog journal” and clicked on the link for the product she used “after researching several.” I bought it.

Then, I went to Amazon and looked at reviews for a similar product. They were mixed. A few people said they saw results. None so impressive as the editor’s though. Sadly, most said it was a waste of money.

Then, I thought, well, on the side bar of the site I was at it said that Rachael Ray used the same thing so I looked up her results. This brought me to a similar site as the first one I saw with a similar Dr. Oz clip but Rachael Ray was the “guinea pig” this time. I was surprised to see that Rachael’s testimonial and “diary” were THE EXACT SAME as the Women’s Health magazine editor’s except she researched and chose a different product. Ugh.

I am now feeling a bit bamboozled. My own fault though…. Anyway, the stuff should be here next week. I guess I will try it and give my own opinion. Since I accidentally bought 5 months worth instead of 3 like I meant to (though I am trying to find a few people to split it with) I will have plenty of opportunity to test it out.

On the South Beach front, I went shopping today at Costco. I will have to go to Safeway too because I couldn’t find everything I needed. I remember now one of the reasons I failed the first time was because the shopping is so onerous and expensive. Wow! I really have to use all this stuff.

I am using MyFitnessPal to log my food, but I am thinking about putting it here as incentive and as an accountability tool.

Stay tuned….

Home Front Revitalization Project – phase II

September 14th, 2013

So, I’ve been thinking about this and, at first, I wasn’t going to do the kids’ rooms, but now I think I will. I just wish my budget matched my visions….

So, this will sound a little circular, but this is the plan:

Luke’s room: I want to remove the spare bed and dresser and get a closet organizer for his clothes. Then, his toys can come out of the basement, living room, and everywhere else in the house and go in his room instead. Before this can happen, see, “Grae’s Room” below.

Grae’s room: I want to put the spare mattress on her trundle, but can’t because her room is a disaster and you can barely walk in there let alone get the trundle out. She refuses to clean her room and/or her idea of “clean” is not the same as everyone else’s idea. She will need some organizer tools but this will have to wait. See, “Christmas Presents” below.

Andrew &Jacob’s room: errr….don’t even know where to begin other than they really (really) need new dressers and we need to purge old toys. I will need to look for bargain dressers.

Brendan would like new furniture. This will definitely have to wait. Surprisingly, other than the volumes of pop cans he keeps in there, his room is pretty tidy.

My room: This gives me a headache to think about. So many ideas, so little $$. I haven’t had a dresser since I moved in here, but I may take Luke’s. Or…Kaila just mentioned wanting a dresser and since technically the dresser is hers, maybe I will offer it back to her for her new apartment.

Christmas presents: Everyone is getting some kind of room organization thing for Christmas. No toys this year.

The photos will, I am sure, be very embarrassing, but…I will post them. I will.

South Beach

September 11th, 2013

Well, since I can’t go to Hawaii and do a 10 day tropic cleanse, I have decided to do the South Beach diet. I’m going to make the whole family do it with me since I am the cook!

Wish us luck.

Made it….

…to the gym today! Just thought I’d throw that out there. 🙂
