Busy day!

May 25th, 2014

Today was very busy! I started out with swimming and water jogging at 8 am and proceeded to run errands until 5 pm. By 8 pm, I wanted to go to bed, but instead, I was good and did the p90x3 workout I missed yesterday as well as today’s! I burned several hundred calories if MyFitnessPal is even close to correct.

I also got a new saddle for my bike and can’t wait to install it and try it out.

Yay me!

Ho hum

May 24th, 2014

I did it AGAIN and chose to have some drinks with the husband last night. Of course I over-imbibed. The scale did rise a bit which is unfortunate, but I think that has more to do with the good old monthly cycle than anything else. I’m not going to let it get me down or create a major set back. I’m just going to keep on moving forward.

What’s been awesome, and totally not ho hum, the past few weeks is watching the spiral effect of better living through excercise. It started with my girlfriend joining a running club and changing her eating habits which inspired me and our other friend to pick up the fitness bug which inspired two more friends and now my husband is pulling out the p90x and doing it too!

Blasse

May 23rd, 2014

I feel out of it today. I went on a field trip and was surrounded by out of control 13/14 year olds and feel like I literally spent the day yelling at people. It sucked.

Golf was fun though. I didn’t realize how many calories you can burn on the driving range! I do regret accepting the cup of champagne that comes with the lesson. I didn’t need it and didn’t really want it. I’m going to try harder next week to say no.

I did get in the p90x3 workout even though I didn’t want to do it, and let me tell you, it was killer. I could barely keep up. Today was CVX which is aerobics with weights. I hated it. Plus, my planter fasciitis is really killing me. I sure hope my shoe insert thing gets here soon.

Dinner today was a mistake. I made spaghetti for the family, which is one of my favorites. I took two bites of the baby’s. I also went with potatoes as my veggie and stuffed pasta shells as the entree. I feel like carb over load big time!!

All in all, it was a pretty rough day. I’m super tired and wish I could just sleep for days and days. My homework for my self is multiple items. 1) I don’t understand how you use a heart rate monitor to determine how many calories you burned so I need to figure that out; 2) I need to stick better to the Nutrisystem plan and pay attention to the smart carbs and power fuels because I am really not doing than – I’m also not getting 4 serving of vegetables a day. There was a third, but I forget what it was. I think I must be brain dead as well as physically beat.

It’s a big day tomorrow with step class, running and p90x3. Maybe I should take a nice swim instead….

don’t drink, don’t smoke, what do you do?

May 21st, 2014

So, I have had this epiphany before…Even one alcoholic drink is a diet killer. You’d think I would learn, but I don’t. I decided to live a little and go to happy hour with the girls and I asked for a diet drink so my bartender made me vodka & soda with muddled oranges. It was good and only about 104 calories (drank 3) but it went straight to my head and I feel awful. I ate stuff at dinner I wouldn’t have otherwise, and I ended up with a terrible headache. I have to remind myself that I can be just as happy drinking diet soda or even some soda water with a bit of lemon.

In other news, I went to the doctor to get that thyroid check I mentioned and while I was there, I got a prescription for Chantix. I have been a bit leery given the bad press this drug receives and the fact that, in my mind, if I don’t quit cold turkey I’m somehow a loser. But, I need to quit smoking and I’ve been finding it really really difficult to do it this time, so I said “what the heck?” and I’m giving it a try. We shall see…

Today is a running day, and I am not looking forward to it. I detest running. But, given last week’s excursion, and this week’s lack of wheels, I haven’t been to the gym since last Wednesday and I must do something active everyday! I will admit it was a little easier on Monday than it was last week. We’ve got a new running buddy and I’m very excited to help her on her journey of fitness too. Plus, the more the merrier, eh?

Heart rate…

May 20th, 2014

So, I bought a heart rate monitor, I don’t know maybe 18 years ago, and you know what? Timex does not lie, they really do keep on tickin’! I pulled it out of the drawer and the thing STILL works. I cannot believe it. It has been moved at least 4 times and has not been used since at least 1997. I’m in shock and awe. If you’re in the market, you have to check this out:

It says that the battery is good for 3.5 years, but I assure you I have not replaced the one on mine.

I’m going to start using it during my workouts and see what I can see.
