sad sad sad

The past two weeks have been some of the toughest days of my life. I got a call the afternoon of February 6th that my Dad had a stroke. My husband and I made quick arrangements for the kids and rushed to Tacoma to find him alert and stable despite what they doctors were calling a massive hemorrhagic stroke in the brain stem. Deadly and inoperable. Slowly, he deteriorated and passed away early in the morning of the 18th.

The cause was untreated high blood pressure. Apparently, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure early last year and was given a two month prescription for meds. Instead of following up with his doctor, he simply quit taking them when they ran out.

This is preventable folks. Please please please get annual check ups and take your medicine. No person should lose a parent at such a young age for something so treatable.

As if the gout and diabetes weren’t enough incentive for me to get into shape, this certainly has been a huge wake-up call.

I miss you Dad. Rest in Peace and I’ll see you in heaven….
